SPECIAL ISSUE ON EXTREME IMAGING
As imaging matures and computing power increases, a new set of methodologies and imaging modalities are emerging that can be labeled as "Extreme." The characterization "extreme" can refer to time scale, spatial extent, resolution, object size, processing speed, unconventional environments and data size. An objective of this special issue is to bring to the forefront and accelerate the development of promising "extreme" approaches, which may later become mainstream. Another objective is to push the limits of imaging and associated analysis research to areas, modalities and systems that have not yet been explored.
This call for papers encourages submissions of works describing fundamental advances in the creation of images at such extremes, including:
- Imaging at extreme time scales: ultrafast to super slow
- Imaging at extreme size scales--microscopy or astronomy
- Imaging using extreme data sets
- Imaging in harsh or unconventional environments
- Imaging using extreme optical configurations
- Imaging at extreme resolutions
Prospective authors should visit the TCI page for information on paper submission. Manuscripts should be submitted via Manuscript Central.

- Manuscript submission: July 1, 2016
- First review completed: September 15, 2016
- Revised manuscript due: November 1, 2016
- Second review completed: December 15, 2016
- Final manuscript due: February 1, 2017
- Tentative publication date: March/April, 2017
